Before initiating the process, you need a few things ready as follows:
- Dish soap
- Cotton material
- Baking soda
- Toothbrush
- Vacuum cleaner
- Spray bottle
- Dull Knife
- Water
How to remove your grease stain using washing-up liquid:
Water alone may not remove grease stains from the carpet. Grease stains may be readily removed using liquid soap, as it acts as an emulsifier. This method is effective on both wet and dry grease stains.
1. Make a solution using 14 cups liquid soap and 1 cup warm water in a mixing bowl.
2. Soak a clean cloth in the solution and dab it on the stain on the carpet. Allow the cleaning solution to enter the carpet fibres by applying moderate pressure to the grease stain.
3. Wait for 10 minutes to complete the process.
4. Gently blot the treated area with a clean, dry cloth, using the dabbing method. It’s conceivable that the carpet stain has transferred to the dry towel.
5. Recheck the area; if no stain remains, continue with the drying procedure.
6. Cover the treated area with a couple of paper towels and secure them with a heavy item such as a small piece of furniture.
7. Allow at least one night for drying.
How to Clean Dried Grease Stains at home:
- On the stained spot, spread the baking soda. Baking soda will absorb all of the stain’s extra grease.
- Scrub some powder into the carpet/ rug or sofa with a clean cloth. And if the stain is more minor use a toothbrush for better control.
- Let the powder penetrate your carpets or rug fibers and absorb more grease by applying light pressure.
- Allow 15 minutes for the baking powder to absorb away the grease stain.
- Post 15 minutes, vacuum the baking soda out of the carpet. Make sure all powder residue is removed.
- If the grease stain still remains, dampen a clean cloth with a solution of a few drops of liquid soap and a cup of clean water.
- Gently spot the stain by applying moderate pressure until the grease stain gradually gets lighter.
- Once you can see the stain is gone. Let the carpet dry.
How to remove fresh grease stains at home?
- When you see a fresh stain, quickly check for some paper towels.
- Soak up as much of the grease as possible. Make sure you don’t rub the towel on any other area.
